According to Shirzad Chamine, founder of Positive Intelligence, everyone has two regions of their brain that have very different functions. We have a Survival Brain, the more primitive part of our brain that is constantly on the lookout for danger, triggering the fight or flight response. This response can be helpful in survival situations but can be detrimental when there are no immediate physical threats.
Everyone also has a region of their brain that mediates the powers of empathy, objective exploration, innovation, navigation among options and clear-eyed, laser-focused action. We label that our Sage Brain.
The Positive Intelligence mental fitness program involves identifying and intercepting the impulses of our Survival Brain and strengthening the functions of our Sage Brain.
